About Vila Joana in Parc Collserola
Vila Joana, an old farmhouse of the Vallvidrera parish, became a summer home in the 19th century and then an educational facility, the Villa Joana Schools, between 1921 and 1973.
Villa Joana was the final home of the writer Jacint Verdaguer. He fell ill and died here on 10th June 1902. On that day, the house became a memorial space for the poet. In 1963, some rooms were turned into the first museum dedicated to him. Today, Villa Joana acts both as a memorial and as a museum house of literature.

Visiting Vila Joana in Parc Collserola
This short walk can be considered a good half day activity that includes a visit to Tibidabo because the route finishes in Tibidabo.
The museum house has restricted opening hours so consult the website.
Hiking Parc Collserola to Tibidabo with a Dog
The trees are mostly oak, beech and cork with some pines so in summer and spring there may be poisonous Pine Processionary Caterpillars.
Because Villa Joana is next to a school, you will see Processionary Caterpillar traps. When you leave the main trail it is unlikely that there will be traps placed so be vigilant for the caterpillars. This route will not present any dificulties for a dog to walk and the dog will be allowed onto the Vallvidrera Funicular. If you visit the interior of Vila Joana you will have to leave your dog outside.
