Or visit the Medieval walled historic centre of Girona for events such as the flower festival. Between Figueres and Girona is The Dali castle home in the village of Pubol.

A combined cremallera (rack railway) and renfe train ticket can be purchased to visit the mountain resort of Vall de Nuria to enjoy hiking, lakes, waterfalls and winter sports such as skiing, snowboard and snowshoe hiking. Overnight stays here can start to get expensive with a basic room in the Vall de Nuria hotel starting from about 100 euros but there is a cheaper L'Aliga Hostel in Vall de Nuria.

For Wine tourism a visit to the Cordineu Wine and Cava caves is an absolute essential because the cava is still produced using the traditional methods of double fermentation in the underground caves.
