The purity and natural beauty of the rivers and waterfalls of the Catalan countryside produces some of the best natural swimming holes for a refreshing swim
Secret Swimming Holes & waterfalls
The obvious escape from the Summer heat is to go to the beach. However, my preferred escape from the heat is to head into the mountains to find that perfect secret waterfall and swimming hole. Nothing beats a hike in the mountains frequented by dips in the fresh clear Pyrenees water against a backdrop of natural beauty from a waterfall or flowing river.
Click on a photo below to find the details to repeat my trips to these great natural beauties.

The Llavorsí-Rialp section has the best rapids of the Noguera Pallaresa river. The first stretch is calm, except for a pass called La Lavadora, which is the first grade IV rapid you will find. The river calms down until the longest rapids of the Noguera Pallaresa. The rapid called Quatre llarg is where you will enjoy waves and ripples that will make you feel the thrill of rafting. Halfway through the activity, you will reach the Gulleri bridge. And some intense rapids, such as La Sirga, La Isla and El Cuatro Español. Then, you will reach the Rialp bridge finding calmer waters, except for the wave trains that you can find on the way. This last stretch of the river will take you to the end of the rafting route in Rialp.
